Perfect for all of my dictation projects, book writing, meetings and assorted brain farts. Very simple and straight-forward to use. No hassle USB-to-PC transcription with the included NaturallySpeaking Dragon software CD and USB cable. Not only are my ideas allowed to be more fluid and focused, I also spend less time creating content for my reports, e-books and websites. I’ve used it without ANY problems with Word, WordPerfect, LibreOffice, and Dragon’s own internal word processing software. This kind of flexibility is just what I needed for the various purposes of my work — at anytime.

You can train the Dragon to access the internal tools and commands of your word processor as well. Every speech-to-text feature works as expected, especially as the Dragon software detects your specific tone, dialect and pronunciation pattern. The left/right internal stereo microphones caught the full range of my fast-choppy New York City speech pattern. This was important to me having worked in radio — and NO, you don’t need to have a radio voice to get great results with this device.

YES, the software really can be trained and customized just to your regional or personal voice pattern. The only time spent typing is when I want to insert words, sentences or brain farts I didn’t speak in the original audio of the Voice Tracer.

The included SD card input allows me to offload and store hours of dictation for immediate or future use — depending on what GB-size SD card (maximum 32 GB) you buy. However, the Voice Tracer’s internal 4 GB memory already holds 1,056 hours anyway. The full-color screen displays EVERYTHING you need to know, and all controls where placed just right regardless of what hand I used. Best of all, this time-saving tool is smaller and lighter than my smartphone, so it now goes everywhere without me having to drain my phone’s battery using a audio recording app — or stopping for incoming calls.

To me, the metal and hard plastic construction rivals or exceeds that of the best smartphones and tablets. Along with the 1-year warranty, there are way too many other features and uses to tell that the 3 PDFs at the Philips website can detail far better. I truly have no worries, and it’s a great under $70 price for ALL the features, and some you may not use — yet, good to have just in case. YES, two AAA batteries and a start guide are included. An easy 5 stars from me. BUY THIS THING!!

I use the recorder for work. It stays in my pocket all day. Even when it is off if you hit the record button the screen lights up then goes off. I get about 4 days out of the batteries whether I use it or not.
